Nehru College of Pharmacy at Thrissur in Kerala is going to organise the 4th national pharmaceutical conference Pharmacon II 2010 from November 24 to 26. The conference will focus on the recent trends in pharmaceutical research and will have distinguished lectures by eminent scientists and professors of pharmacy and related fields.

Distinguished speakers from across the country will be making their presentation. On the first day of the conference Dr R Manavalan, professor and head, Department of Pharmacy, Annamalai University, will be speaking on the clinical trial protocol; Dr A M Ismail, vice-principal, Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Girls, Trichy will be giving a presentation on clinical drug research and Dr Edwin Jerald, professor Department of Pharmacognosy, B R Nahata College of pharmacy, Bhopal shall discuss on India’s prospects to become drug discovery and pharmaceutical innovation hub.

In the second day of the conference, Dr R Saraswathy, principal, Al Shifa College of Pharmacy, Perinthalmanna in Kerala will be speaking on the pulmonary drug delivery system. The event will also see a discussion on the patient focused medication adherence and about its importance by Dr Kalyani Prakasam, professor and head of Pharm D Programme, Acharya and B M Reddy College of pharmacy, Bangalore.

Dr B Prakash Rao, professor and head, Department of Pharmaceutics, Karnataka College of Pharmacy, Bangalore will be speaking on nanotechnology and its importance in the future pharmaceuticals. Other speakers include Dr M Gandhimathi, professor, Department of Pharmaceutical analysis, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Coimbatore and Dr K Gowthamrajan, professor and head, Department of Pharmaceutics, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty. They would be speaking on trends in analytical techniques for pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences and on the orphan technology with industrial prospective respectively.

On day three, there will have interesting presentation form Dr S P Dhanapal, head, Department of Phytomedicine, J S S College of pharmacy, Ooty on the traditional herbal medicines and heavy metals. Professor G Arunachalam, principal, PGP College of Pharmaceutical sciences, Namakkal will be speaking on pharmacognosy the changing scenario. Dr P Solairaj, professor and head, Department of Analysis, SBCP, Sivakasi will be presenting on the modern analytical techniques, whereas Dr V Shankar of the P S G College of pharmacy, Coimbatore is expected to give a presentation on the role of pharmacist in India.

The programme is aimed to give the student community, faculty members and research scholars all over India, a unique opportunity to prove their mettle in their subject and win prizes.
